Submissions
Gingko Gazette reports on topics and stories relevant and/or timely for people at any of the intersections queer people inhabit. We publish essays and opinion, reporting and news, poetry and fiction, and history pieces, past, present, and future.
Written by us. Rooted in resilience. Grounded in truth.
What we accept
We accept essays and opinion, reporting and news, fiction, and history pieces of up to 1,500 words, and up to 3 poems per submission.
Not accepted
Bigotry and dehumanization. Unsourced claims about real, named people. Plagiarized work. Anything that outs or endangers a real person.
We decline all four.
How to submit
Submit through Duosuma with a short cover letter. Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Please notify us right away if your piece is accepted elsewhere. Pitches not accepted.
Written by us means written by people. We do not accept AI-generated writing.
Response time
We hope to provide a response within 60 days. Submissions are open year-round. Each themed issue will receive its own dated call, and we will post it on this page as well as on Duosuma.
Rights, pay, and fees
At this time, we cannot pay contributors. That is one of the limitations we unfortunately encounter as an all-volunteer staff. You get to keep all rights to your work. We ask only for first rights, and they return to you after publication. We charge no fee to submit; however, there is a tip jar option for individuals who desire to contribute to the fees associated with maintaining this publication. We thank you for your understanding.
Anonymity
We understand that some of us cannot publish work under our own names in order to ensure our safety. Tell us in your cover letter if your name puts you at risk. Anonymous publication is possible when the editor agrees.
